I am always on the hunt for the perfect everyday face base product. When I say every day I mean work life, study life or mum life… Do you follow me?
For me it’s something I slap (or beauty blend) onto my face every day. Quick, easy, makes you look instantly great better (but not too made up), my ‘daily’ makeup uniform.
For me this means usually medium coverage, hydrating but not oily slick dewy and ideally containing a bit of SPF for some skincare multitasking.
Here’s a breakdown of my favourite’s products for that ‘every day face base’:
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue: Gosh I love this stuff. I’m on my third tube if that’s anything to go by. The texture is a bit different it’s more of a gel cream, which I quite like for especially in summer time as I can be a bit oily. What I like about this is the shade is just right. It comes in a variety of shades to really get a perfect match (not just a light, medium dark situation). It blends seamlessly (I apply just with my fingertips) and it works into the skin so quickly, no streaks. It contains SPF 30! So it’s generous on sun protection compared to a lot of foundations. More light-medium coverage. $47.00 at Mecca.
Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Face Tint: This has a lovely whipped texture to it its hydrating on the skin and contains hyaluronic acid (great for plumping) the tint is definitely more coverage than the Bare Minerals; I would say it’s a medium coverage. I just dislike the smell of this product; I feel that it smells strongly of SPF (which is odd because it only is SPF 15). I would say this is a great product for those with dry or dehydrated skin or those with more mature skin looking for thr plumping ingredients. I apply with my beauty blender or brush. $89.00 at Mecca.
MAC Face and Body Foundation: It doesn’t get more iconic than MAC Face and Body. I have used this product for years personally and in my professional kit. It has a sheer buildable coverage to it so it’s great if you want versatility day to day (e.g. can be sheer or more medium coverage depending on amount applied). My only wish is that it contained SPF so it would make it a fab everyday product. So keep that in mind; applying SPF first to protect the skin. I apply Face and Body with fingertips on myself; I feel it’s how I get the best finish and blend into my skin. $60.00 at Farmers.
IT Cosmetics CC Cream: This one is a new one for me but it’s been on my radar for a while to try. All I can say is I love it! This has moved into my top spot currently for everyday face makeup. I like that it comes in a pump applicator makes it easy for distributing the product. This is a more medium- full overage so I would say if you want it more sheer makeup to make sure you don’t overdo it when pumping the product out. But if you like a bit more coverage (like a foundation) then this product is the one for you! It also has SPF 50- the highest out of all the products listed here and it’s also not a chemical sun block; it’s a physical block using titanium and zinc oxide. This CC cream is amazing; it really does make your skin look like skin it’s not too dewy or too matte. I apply with a Beauty Blender or foundation brush. $70.00 at Sephora NZ.
Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream: his has been a product I have used for years off and on. It’s the most expensive out of all the products listed but it is a generous sized tube and you really only need to use the smallest amount. This is the most natural of all the products so if you’re into natural skincare and cosmetics this is a great option. It has a lovely natural scent and for being a natural product it provides amazing full coverage-if desired. If you prefer it more sheer medium coverage then be careful to literally use the tiniest amount! Its also great because it provides SPF 25 (also non chemical sunscreen). This is the one for you if you want a variable coverage product that feels like skincare on your skin. I find that it feels nourishing with high quality ingredients and it really does make your skin look amazing; I usually don’t even need concealer when I wear this- it covers anything you want it to. I apply with beauty blender. Approx $85 at selected locations.
Natio Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting BB Cream: I have used this BB Cream for years and it’s the least expensive option listed. It really is awesome for everyday if you don’t want to ‘waste your good stuff’ at work or uni or school drop off. It provides a light- medium coverage and it feels hydrating on the skin but not too heavy or oily which I like. I have recommended this product to so many people and they have absolutely loved it. It’s around $20 so it’s a low commitment try! It provides SPF 15 so I find its perfect for morning walking the dog or Saturday morning ‘no makeup’ look. I apply with finger tips just like I would a moisturizer. $19.50 at Farmers.
